Does anyone know of anykind of website/database for allotment site information in the given area, both private and council run sites?

I know I'm in for a good wait but if I don't get my name down now I'll never get up the list.

Dont think there is one, many councils will give the info on their websites but dont think there is a national type one around.

Ive been on to 2 local councils, one who wont entertain the idea as I'm 1/2 mile out of their area, which I understand due to demand nowadays and my borough council who were next to useless.

Been onto a couple of local parishes as well who run allotment sites, one very helpfull but as I'm not in the parish itself others will get there before me :( My local parish has no allotments

hi L 11OBS, we're in the ng21 area got passed from our local council to the parish council back to the local one!!!  :?  Got fed up of being passed around as no one knew anything about the allotments in our area. This was back in february, got in touch with these people http://www.nsalg.org.uk/  They put us in touch with the chairman of our local allotments, by mid may we had our own patch of over grown land to work. Worth  a try it worked for us.  :D

NG9 is Broxtowe borough council - on their website it says:
Allotments
The Borough Council manage a number of allotment sites in the southern half of the Borough, with the current popularity of allotment gardening we do have waiting lists at most sites.
If you are interested in renting a plot please contact us for further information.  In addition there are 2 self managed sites who may have plots available.

Site No. of Plots
Attenborough Lane, Chilwell 9
Borehole, off George Avenue, Chilwell 111
Carisbrooke Avenue, Beeston 2
Dennis Avenue, Beeston 10
Grove Avenue, Chilwell 119
*Inham Nook, off Slade Road, Chilwell 87
*Leyton Crescent, Beeston 116
Trent Vale Road, Beeston 25
Wollaton Road, Beeston 103

* These sites are managed by an association based on-site

Annual cost of a 250m2 Plot = £20 Rental + £8.50 Water Charge

Half Price Concessionary Rates are available for those on State Pension (Men & Women aged 60+) or Registered Disabled.

A deposit of £5 is required for an allotment key.

When I contacted Broxtowe Borough Council, they told me I ought to contact Stapleford Town Council (details below - you are better off e-mailing but note they are usually shut on Fridays).  I don't know where you would go for Trowell etc in the NG10 area.  There used to be a few vacancies in Stapleford, but this year has seen a waiting list on my site for the 1st time in ages:

The Stapleford Town Council manage 5 allotment sites for residents of Stapleford only:

- Albany site (on Pasture Road near Man of Iron public house)

- Peatfield site (on Peatfield Road, left hand side of Pasture Road)

- Bessell Lane

- Ewe Lamb Lane (corner of Ewe Lamb Lane and Central Avenue)

- Nottingham Road (behind the Play Forum, opposite the Rockwell Court flats)

For enquiries of availability, contact Mrs Margaret Downie, The Town Clerk in the first instance:
- e-mail: staplefordtc@yahoo.co.uk
- tel: 0115 939 1818 (manned part-time between 11.30am-1.30pm Mon-Thurs)
Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.
Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.

Do we think an allotment database would be useful?

I have some skills in internet database type stuff. If it was valuable I could spend the winter dark nights creating something that allows people to add sites to the database and allows searching for sites nearby.

Of course its only value would be if people add sites to it.

What do you think?

Off wilmot street, again next to the train line (i sense a theme), this one again is pretty big

these are the two i know of off the top of my head! It is late, i am tired, i shall think more tomorrow
