Went to the Orchard and bought 6 new Light Sussex hens to go with my cockerel and his two hens, and 4 ducklings...they're lovely. Also now have a trio of Peking Bantams, and a trio of gold silkies. The field is now looking much better since we have finished our fight with the stinging nettles. I use them to make tea with. Also planted some of my Comfrey down there as that is useful too.

I wish I lived nearer to where you got yours from, I've still not had any luck finding a really good unrelated LS cock for my pullets.

What a lovely spot! I like the little duck-pond you've set up down there. I must make a little pond like that, although I'll keep goldfish in mine... ha, that is if I can figure out a way to protect them from the raccoons, which love hunting for fish in a barrel...

My yard is about the same size as yours, but I've built it up quite a lot, with my workshop along one side, and my little shed in the far corner, and now the new chicken coop right at the back in the middle... So I'm now building a split-cedar fence around the front of my property and when that's finished the chickens can hang around in the front yard, as can my dog.

Are there instructions here anywhere to help explain how to upload pictures here? So far, most of the ones I've taken aren't that good either, but I still want to start posting some of the better ones, and keep taking more, of course.
