Good one, Snoozi, probably aborted fruit, I think gets treated by most as pollination problem, whereas it isn't. Can look very similar.

I used to beat the stems with a stick and got reasonable results.  Perhaps next year my wife and I should try a nice gardener/nasty gardener technique on them to see if it makes them more co-operative!
