I only sowed mine last Thursday. They're germinating now  will go out as soon as they're big enough & to be honest with the weather as it has been I think they'll have as much chance as everyone else's.

I sowed some sweetcorn directly a couple of weeks ago and they are coming up. I also planted some plants I had raised in the greenhouse. They were quite big strong and green when I planted them. They are now pretty yellow. Does anyone know why this might be? Is it a problem? and how can I correct it ? Thanks

Mine are exactly the same Hen Maiden - we don't know your location but if you've had the same persistent low temperatures as most of us you don't need to look any further for the reason.

A liquid feed might help them recover if/when the weather improves.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

It partly depends on your soil - mine is sandy and will be very depleted after all this rain, so I shall give a liquid feed for a quick boost (Miracle Grow in my case, but Phostrogen or comfrey liquid would also be fine) followed by a dressing with a general purpose fertiliser, as they are very fast-growing and hungry plants in the right conditions.

What they need more than anything of course is warmth and sun (same with the runner beans.)   :(

You should avoid using fresh rabbit poo as it is very strong and can burn the plants.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I always thought that rabbit manure is a 'cold' manure and can be applied fresh

;) this, rabbit poo is basically just crushed hay and grass.

My sweetcorn isn't out yet, I put them out too early last year and they snapped in the wind. It's so blustery here that I haven't dared put it out yet. It's still in the hardening off greenhouses which are basically like cold frames.
