I have a girl that is gurgling when breathing.  I rarely get to pick her up and today is the 2nd of the Ex Batts (2nd Batch) 26 week old laying 3 week pullet eggs she has been out and about no outward signs of wrong.  Crop small.
Sound of her gurgleing.

Soft egg not a problem as the coop was closed today keeping new girls out so they eat and drink and not stay in coop all day.

She does sound a bit rattley Ruff. Could be a number of respiratory problems.  I'd consider getting some antibiotic if she doesn't improve in a couple of days.

I had the same thing with Biggins Ruff, it wasnt till Foxy picked him up that we reaslised   he was pecking about as usual and you couldnt hear anything. Anyway, couple of injections and he is back to normal. We had also notice that he lost a little weight so it was a b****y good job Foxy suddenly decided to pick him up  Good luck :D
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!!

Thanks Jelly.  What was wrong with Biggins?  Was it a trip to the vets?

Yes they have it all the time.  It is a strong gurgling sound almost on every breath. Thinking about it I had just chased her around.

So the long and short of it is you chased your chicken around and then worried when she got out of breath! I don't know how she puts up with you!
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

She might, it would explain the heavy breathing.

It wouldn't explain the running away though!

And before you suggest it I don't think that chickens play hard to get!
