I have purchased a greenhouse - what now?

I have bought an 8x6 greenhouse for £159 from focus. Good price but I doubt it will be the most robust greenhouse that ever lived.

What do I need for it?   Do I need to insulate it in winter (spring)?  What sort of shelving?  anything else I need????

Good for you.
It depends what you want to do - I don't bother heating mine I just use it for bringing on seedlings in the spring. In the summer it's too hot for anything. I keep adding more and more staging to take more seed trays.
(mine is all homemade and bodged).
Have a read of some books - you'll soon find your greenhouse is too small!
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Hi Vineweevil.,
I was going to get one of those! great value aren't they!
I seem to think that it didn't come with the base for that price. I was thinking about using old railway sleepers to jack it up a bit?
Good luck with it anyway, I'm very jealous. :)

I'd have to say snap to noshed. We use ours for getting the seedlings going in the spring, and for not much else. I reckon you could have a greenhouse as big as you like, and it would still end up too small!!

Thanks folks,

I have some of those tall pvc greenhouse things, I guess I could use the shelving from those.  With 35 packets of seeds in my tin I think it will probably be too small before long.

srebmob - that's right, we won't be having a base, but thought we could use some timbers as a base as it doesn't seem that tall

Breeze blocks make a good base.

I used Breeze blocks for mine 30+ years ago and they're now crumbling away, better to use solid concrete blocks.
