Hello
Im currently in discussions with my oh, and am hoping to extend my "flock" from two to three next year.
I have two gorgeous light sussex bantams but they are constantly broody - they will lay about 6 eggs then stop for 3 weeks plus   .  I even let them raise some chicks thinking this would help but it didn't.
To encourage my oh to agree to another chook I have promised to get a regular egg layer.
Are there any bantam breeds that lay regularly and are less prone to broodiness or do I have to look to large breeds?
Any help gratefully received
Ness

Ps I had my heart set on Australorp bantams but I have the feeling they do the broody thing too. (Foxy?)

yep, I agree with Richy;  hybrids have been selectively bred to not go broody but to continue laying - that's not to say that they will never get clucky; one of the guys opposite me has one that has sucessfully raised a clutch that was placed under her, but it's rare.

Leghorn bantams don't go broody as a rule, as do any of the bantam breeds that mimic their 'light' breed counterparts.
