Advice anyone....?

Hi .
As a newbe to your forum and to allotments, I was hoping someone could give me some advice.
I'm going next week to choose which plot I would like - there is a choice of 4 apparently and I'm wondering what sort of questions I should be asking!
We have lots of enthusiasm but little knowledge at the moment, but having a quick look through this site has given me some ideas!

look for the one that has been cultivated most recently! failing that, find the one with the least of the difficult weeds to dig out

distance to water supply should your water butts be low/empty.

All of the above plus consider ease of access for deliveries. Does the plot get sun all day or are there tall buildings or trees nearby.

I'm not on an allotment, but I wonder if it would also be worth looking at the state of the plots beside the ones you are considering?

I've recently took one on. I had these criteria.

-Access to water supply
-Least mess (ie as close to child friendly as possible)
-Recently cultivated (within 2-3 years pref with a year fallow)
-Large (or small) enough to suit me
-Facilites such as shed and greenhouse a bonus

Mine fulfilled all of them.

As well as the above, talk to the people down there they will know what the soil is like on each particular row or plot even. And will probably be able to tell you what plot will be the best.

is it an allotment in scunnie i would try buckingham ave up near foxhills its new allotment moved to make room for housing so therefore should not have the problems assossiated with older allotments
