That's sad news Mick, hope you're not too upset. She did sound in a bad way and you did marvels to make her as comfortable as you did.

Oh Mick i am soo sorry  :( you did everything you could for her.

I hope you get a response back from the person who supplied her to you.

Did the vet give you any idea what could have been the problem?

Big hugs x

Are hearts are with you for your loss......such a short period of you having her, but I bet they were filled with fond memories....

As said earlier, you did all you could for her and gave her your time and love.  What more could a chook ask for than that?

Thanks folks, supplier is gutted and obviously is giving me a refund...but I wanted the chook  :(  Don't know whether to try and get another from him?
The vet said she didn't know what was wrong - but she was very underweight and cold. Buttercup spent all morning on a heat pad but to no avail. She said whatever it was she was obviously ill when I bought her - wish I'd have known enough to have been able to notice before it was too late!

Might be worth trying another from the breeder but looking out for signs of poor health. It's so hard isn't it, but Aunt Sally said on another post something along the lines of when a chook looks ill.. it's REALLY ill.. they made complete sense to me after Shimmer. :(

((hugs)) be good to yourself tonight.

Firstly, I am so sorry Mick aout Buttercup, I know how awful you are feeling. Big hugs from over here.
However, peeps, if you go back on my posts about little Bertha my Orpington chick it sort off messes some of these theories up. I got 5 from the same breeder, lovely lady, had loads of birds from her and she goes to market every week. 3 of the 4 orpys got ill. Two of them died    but I managed to get to Bertha B in time. She had droopy wings and extremely icy cold feet, sound familiar Mick :? but she ate and drank, just like the other 2. BUT, I say she ate and drank, she did when I watched her but when I picked her up she was really skinny  She was given anti-biotic injections and I put the anticocci stuff in her water, that and lots of Reiki and TLC she is now right as rain :D but unfortunatley I dont know what exactly it was that nearly killed her, what it was that killed the other 2, why the other 2 have been ok and why have the rest of my flock got away with it.
So Sherlocks    what was it :?:  :?:  :?:
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!!

It's a real pity no one could put up a search engine by symptoms....so poultry keepers could access a database and narrow down possible problems by symptoms being shown by their birds?

There is one Mick but it's very medical and designed for vets.  One for keepers would be really useful.

Did the vet say what was wrong with Buttercup ?
