The orange stick was originally made of orange wood but you can get them now in various forms!!!  You were correct with your guess Kate  :)

Well done for keeping her snuggly     I just hope it helps to make her feel better. Let us know in the morning how she is doing.

I have just put my 2 chicks on a hot water bottle and covered them over for the night..hopefully they will sleep in and not wake up at the crack of dawn!  So far so good...it normally takes them about 20mins to fully settle but all is quiet now  :)

Well...managed to get her through the night! One minute I think she's improving and the next I think she's gonna go!    She's pretty much completely lost her sense of balance as well!?

Right...I'm off to the vets...wish me luck!!!

Hi,  I've come onto this topic late but was just reading an article on the Poultry Site re Bird Flu:

Quote from: "http://www.thepoultrysite.com/bird-flu/bird-flu-news.php"

Diagnosis How to Recognise Avian Influenza

What to look for

Ruffled feathers
Soft-shelled eggs
Depression and droopiness
Sudden drop in egg production
Loss of appetite
Cyanosis (purplish-blue coloring) of wattles and comb
Edema and swelling of head, eyelids, comb, wattles, and hocks
Green diarrhoea
Blood-tinged discharge from nostrils
Incoordination, including loss of ability to walk and stand
Pin-point hemorrhages (most easily seen on the feet and shanks)
Respiratory distress
Increased death losses in a flock
Sudden death
Nasal discharges

I don't want to scare you but have you ruled this out?

I really hope it's not and that she gets better very soon

Well...Just got a call from the Vet.

After all the efforts last night, staying up late and ensuring heat/food/water were administered.....buttercup passed away at lunchtime.

I'm truly gutted

I've contacted the supplier again - will wait to see what he says.

Thank you to everyone for their help and advice, and thank you Kate you really are special.
