BROAD BEAN RUST

Hi all, has anyone had same problem as me this year with sping planted broad beans? Mine all got rust and died back!
Would it be the reason why folks tend to do autumn sown broad beans?

It's the wet weather! Just spotted our with rust yesterday, nearly all picked now so not a real problem.

I,m growing broad beans for the first time this year and they're covered in rust too, grrr! It's poured with rain for weeks now.

How long/large should they be before I pick them?

I saw 6" in one guide but when I picked my first one at this length the beans were tiny and immature.

It's not so much the length as the girth....sorry :oops: You should be able to see the size of the beans as they stretch the pod. Don't let them get too big or they get too bitter/strong.
