we have grown some nectarine plants from stones which were thrown in the compost they are now in 6in pots and are approx a meter high will they come to anything if planted. any help appreciated

They should come to something within a few years, but as to what is everybody's guess. Let us know!

But be aware, even special, suited to cooler climes varieties struggle to fruit without some protection in most of the UK.

i did this with an apricot but it seems to be getting tall and thin - any way to make a tree grow out not up?

Stopping it. But you might not want to do that for a while. It's normal to a certain extent - unless growing up for lack of enough light - whip, feathered whip, tree, that many years, usually.

well it's not too tall yet - maybe 2/3 ft? it's not really taking up much room or getting in the way where it is so i guess i'll leave it be for a bit longer.
