Large tomato
« on: July 26, 2008, 17:10 »
I just picked a tomato from one of my greenhouse Mamande plants and it weighs 545 grammes.

Not a very attractive fruit and it broke in two when I picked it.
It has two stems, so I imagine it is some kind of mutant.

It will get used for breakfast tomorrow

None of the others on the plant are anything like this though generally it is an ugly variety.

I think Marmande are a beefsteak tomato, but mine didn't get quite that big last year!  My largest ones were from the yellow Brandywine, they are strange looking tomatoes too, but very tasty and lots of flesh!!!

LOL Gobs,  I got really worried with the first yellow brandywines I grew!!  I even contacted Tuckers seeds to ask if they were duds!!!  I think I've still got the photo of them when they were still green, but with their big brown holes underneath!  then I found out they are always like that!!!! DOH!!!!!

Found it!!!!
