planted them a little late in a barrel, as they were a bargain I thought at 25p for the pack.  the foliage is now about 24" but no flowers.  As I don't know this variety will they be ok ?

Depends on what you have handy I would not go out and specifically buy "potato feed", super phosphate would be good if you have any, Blood fish and bone , chicken pellets, growmore or even some thing like miracle gro, phostrogen or a stores own variant balanced fertiliser will feed the plant, but the last 3 could lead to lots of lush leaf as well.

thanks richy, have got  a large tub of chicken pellets can use those, have also got fish blood and bone, but instructions say to ensure that it does not come into contact with plant stems  of grown plants.  It seems to be something to add to soil before planting.  I am probably wrong, but thats
how it reads.   All the words look the same after a glass of wine or two !!

You can use it as a top dressing, when you are not toxicated, so you don't scatter it all over the plant itself.
