Cut up clean white plastic washing up bottles and bleach bottles to make plant labels. Make nice big ones if your eyesight is bad like mine. Make a hole using a hole-punch then you can tie to them to a stick at the end of the row  - less bending to see them, they won't blow away and little people won't swop them around.

Pyrography...I've had great fun getting my youngest to write on bits of pallet with a soldering iron such words as 'cabbages' 'carrots' and onions etc.  Makes great 'unmissable' labels...good for his spelling, good for the lotty and only mildly imperiling the house with imminent combustion...boys, love 'em!

A little tip
Just remembered a little but very useful tip passed onto me by an 80 year old allotmenteer.  When storing toilet roll tubes flatten them [neatly of course]. Not only do they store much more easily but when you come to use them they are almost square in cross section and fit each other and the supporting trays far better.

Not panicing here Munty, sat sipping a nice glass of Bushmills, checking this forum and the punk gig guides, loads of gigs this time of year so dont do a lot just try and stop this blooming ringing in me ears, down on the plot on monday mornings and thats it. will panic come march and then realize how much work I have on

busy hands are happy hands.
Im busy feeding the robin, repairing and sharpening gardening tools. sterilizing soil and mixing compost ready for the busy month ahead. allotment association had a delivery of seed potatoes £1.80 for 3kg and onion sets £0.55 for 1/2 kg.these want bagging and distributing to the members. will find time to make a tamper and also the herb frame thanks for that
I'll beat this heavy clay yet. now almost there works well now
