Strawberry Runners

Question on behalf of my Mum!.......

She's potted up lots of little strawberry runners..... once they've rooted what does she do with them?..... Do they stay in pots till next spring or should they go straight into the ground this year?

Hi

They can stay in pots or if the weather is good plant out in late autumn. It's best to look at the plants and reckon if they will survive the winter If ypou're not sure keep 'em in pots and give some shelter.

Put them in the ground as soon as you have the space. Strawberries are very forgiving in my experience. Put them in with some good compost and keep them well-watered untill they settle in.
