Hello all,

one of my plans is to rear meat birds from chicks with broodies but I realise that there is just a finite window in which do do this.

how late in the year is too late to raise chicks with a hen?

I had chicks last November. It is slightly warmer here but was still cold. The mummy will keep em warm

we tried giving a broody hen some eggs in march this year - but there was a really bad weekend of frosts and she abandoned the nest. she obviously thought better of it! depends where you put your broody - the next one we made a nest for inside our shed and that worked a treat.

great!  mine have a huge shed to run around in as well as a massive run so I'll make a special warm place in there for them!
