My girlies seem tobe on strike!

With 6 bantums, we are getting between 0 and 2 eggs a day. What is going on? They seem happy and healthy, have plenty of pellets and water, lots of space - I just don't get it?!

How old are your girls? Are they broody? Do they free range? If so could they be hiding their eggs.

I'm playing egg hunt at present cos 2 of my little darlings are laying out of the nest box, I've found where they are laying so have marked up the 6 eggs that were there and keep taking the new ones each day. Good job they can only count to 6

When mine went off lay, I put it down to the weather/introducing new birds. However when they hadn't started again after nearly 2 weeks I gave them a good check over...it turned out they had lice!

Give them a good checking over to rule out any creepy crawlies...my girls all appeared healthy enough.

last year when I had several bantams they were really erratic with their laying, part of the reason was that bantams can be prone to being broody, they won't lay if that's the case. I've only got big chickens this year and so far I've had none broody and so many eggs I even had to pickle some!!! :shock:

not that I'm complaining though!
