Runner beans - flower colour
« on: July 01, 2008, 20:21 »
Hi

Our first wigwam of runner beans are running well and almost all of them now have flowers forming.  They are dark purple/green is the best way to describe them and one has opened and is showing a scarlet flower.  We are growing Prizewinner variety.

The odd thing is one of the plants has a flower bud almost the same shape as the others but they are green instead of purplely colour like the rest - it's almost like the flower is going to be a different colour.  The plant looks healthy and is climbing well do you think I have a problem or a rogue bean from a different variety in my packet.

Cheers

They used to be grown for decorative purposes, until someone hit upon the bright idea of eating them!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Hope you don't mean that all red ones are Scarlet Emporer, that certainly is not the case.
