dead chicken!!!

went to open the shed this morning and laying on the floor was 1 of chickens and she was dead !! no body damage but looks like dry blood round her bum .

what has happend to her ??

They can have heart defects and can keel over anytime.  We've had even young ones die on us, and don't know if it was part of the cause or just because the body was laying there, but the others will peck at it when its dead, its just free food.

Not a nice thought I know.  Also I had a couple come round the other day for 2 of the Babcock chicks.  They had 2 of my last year's Amberlinks and lost one of them last week, so it was only about 33 weeks old.  They thought it may have been because it was rooting around the garden and they've got a lot of foxgloves, but who knows?  these things do happen.

sorry to hear about it though, its never nice when you lose an animal.
