Growing carrots in bag Q - how deep?

Last Q for the day I promise!

Am going to try and grow some carrots in a builders bulk bag after my dismal attempts in our soil on new lottie.

How deep do you think I should have my soil / compost??

I'd say slightly more than the length of the longest carrot you anticipate!

OK, complete novice here, would you say 6" / 7" is a decent length for a carrot?

I'd be happy, but longer is possible, dependant on variety.

Maybe 12" of compost to be on the safe side.

I've just got mine into a builders bag and it took loads of soil to fill it to 12 ins - mix of compost and sieved soil hope they apprecaite the effort and this year I get carrots

Anyone know how Babe's Terence is by the way :?:
