Plants dangerous to chickens
« on: June 19, 2008, 12:53 »
I am thinking of letting my hens out and about in my garden, they have a large run but i would like them to be mre freindly and social in our garden.  I will separate them from my veg of course, I'm just wondering if there are any flowers and plants in your average garden that would not be good for them.   Can they eat weeds?

They will tend not to eat the things which are bad for them.  But they will dig up as many of your flowers as they can manage in the hunt for worms and bugs and to dust bathe

We always let a couple of chickens out when we were digging up the spuds, you should see the wire worms disappear.
