I was wondering how many sweet peppers I can grow in a jumbo growbag?(they are twice as thick as a normal growbag)

Not having grown sweet peppers before they look smaller plants than toms so was wondering if you can stuff more in....

Peppers like toms are quite greedy so I would suggest 3 to 4 at the most.

You're right, they are not as tall as toms, but I would only put 3 in a grow bag because some of my peppers were a bit wide last year, they can get bushy if you pinch the tips out, but I'm not expert as mine go in the polytunnel and greenhouse

1 would guess if you planted them about 10-12 inches apart about 3-4.

Or about 10 litres per plant...ish   :?

thanks - will experiment with three in one bag and 5 in another.....

BTW I bought these bags back in Feb - they were a BOGOF from a local garden centre...... I bought loads as it was such a great deal.....

The ones sold to the public are mainly a mix of coarse peat and farm manure. When there done, you can dig them into the allotment as soil conditioner.

However, the grobags to really get hold of are the commercial strawberry grobags they sell to strawberry growers, you put tomatoes in those and they go like a rocket.

Even i cant get hold of those cos i would have to buy a whole pallet, which is 110, and collect them, and even if i could move them (1 tonne of compost total), I cant think of a use for 110 grobags.

we get the pro growbags from our lotty shop.  I use soil for my peppers though, or a mixture of the two
