I sowed my carrots about 4 weeks ago and thought nothing had happened, but on closer inspection of the row full of weeds I have lots of these :



I'm HOPING that they are carrot seedlings...but as I have also found some in my row of peas (which also haven't grown, apart from one) I'm not so sure.

the root does kind of look orange at the bottom.......

but if it were my carrots i would know it wouldn't be as i'm growing yellow carrots this year!! :roll:

Do carrots throw of two cotyledon first then the first pair of true leaves? Are the cotyledon long and thin with a single vein, i have the same problem !!!!

It looks like a carrot to me. You can usually tell them even earlier - from just the long narrow cotyledons with a tiny 'fuzz' between that turns into the familiar carrots leaves. I'd say it was a carrot..

Oh, I might be so wrong, but they are more serrated and delicate on my mind.

True but it is a very close up pic and from a distance they look more delicate.  I was hoping it was a carrot too because my new carrots look like this!  Can't say why there'd be any in the pea patch though except for wind blowing stuff across of course.
