Strange potato one!

Hiya,

Yeah when I was planting me seed spuds, I left (and forgot about) some leftover seeds, and they were left on some unturned quite hard ground. Consequently they have started to get some impressive growth on them and are fully anchored on top of the ground, out of curiosity I was wondering if they would produce tubers under the circumstances?   8)

Probably - but do you like green, toxic spuds?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Never tried toxic ones, had the blue ones so maybe will try the green ones, anyone tried them?? Is it just the skin thats green or are they green inside just like the blue?

Spuds that are green are toxic - give you a tummy ache at the very least.  They turn green when exposed to light.  Hence the comment about whether you like green, toxic spuds  :D

Unfortunately, the green spud is not a wonderful new variety like the blue ones!!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Never tried them, but they go green inside.

Do do you if you eat them.

Earth them up and avoid getting poisoned. :D
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

Ha!

No, I am relying on it, just curious to see if it produces any spuds.

Yes, if you can keep earthing them up where they took, you should get something out of them, if the seed gone green makes no difference.

Wow so is everyone suggesting that the tubers will grow on top of the ground out of the soil? I can't wait to see this!
