Bless! If you can grow chillis I bet there's tons else you can grow, Fat Hen.
I had no luck with peppers last year....got 3 titchy fruits (from 3 plants!) that I proudly gave to my brother cos he loves them - but he forgot about them and ended up throwing them out
But this year I've got peas, beans, toms, pak choi, onions, petit pois, carrots, parsnips, tatties, beetroot, cucs, etc etc etc thriving in flower buckets.
Oh, and peppers! Had 70+ buckets dotted about at last count
And if an idiot like me can do it, so can you

I did eventually get a crop of toms last year, though very late.  Got fed up of plants taking up space in greenhouse and chucked em out where in actual fact they faired better.

With me it's the slugs, snails and my pet chickens that are the problem.

Had loads of strawbs plants the other yr but never got a single one the bl**dy slimey **star*s got them all.

But chillis has become something of an obsession and I have far more plants that I can cope with and have little room for anything else.  They are also tough and cope with a certain amount of abuse/neglect.

Glad to hear I am not the only one with an obsession with peppers.
After reading some posts where people have a couple of chilli plants, I was thinking that the 50 plants I have got in the polytunnel was excessive.

No longer.. I have been eclipsed by your plantation.

Though I must admit that I love the fiery taste of chilli... mmmmmmm

Anyway, getting back to the flowerpots ladies...

Morrisons didn't have any, Wyevale's recycling scheme didn't have any big enough, another garden centre was using all theirs and another garden centre said they couldn't pass anything on as they had to be sterilised...

Just posted on Freecycle saying I wanted some.

And then rang a little local flower shop. They didn't have any, but the lady who worked there said she had lots at home and would bring some in for me tomorrow.

Hope to get them transplanted tomorrow, but the Mrs says we don't need ten tomato plants. The big problem's going to be convincing her otherwise!

After all you can mush them up and bottle them, and even do your own 'sundried' toms in a very low oven apparently. Recipe ideas anyone?
Growing salad leaves isn't rocket science.
