they're lovely  :D   Wonder how long they'll stay white  :D  Mine get filthy  :D   Mine began laying at 24 weeks and the last one to start laying was 27 weeks old.  So 3 eggs a day now

I've started baking as my B & B guests aren't eating them all  :D

I wanted an amber one but he sold the colours first so I was too late. The three of them are different shades of brown so I can tell them apart  :D

Pretty girls

My Amber (Little Miss Sunshine) is almost pure white, hardly any speckles at all - but dirty grey marks on her wings where she's been taking a dust bath in a pile of earth     Think she's around 21 weeks now, so maybe she'll start laying soon ...
Nobody said this was going to be easy ... but some days are better than others!

Girls doing well. They seem to be laying an egg a day alternatively.

Any one got any tips for alternative food.

Presently getting corn ,layers mash and some shell.

What do you feed yours

The same really,
they have fruit, bread, digestive biscuits, sweetcorn, mealworms and other things I have in at the time, but they are only given as treats  :D

Really good fun keeping chickens.

I know it seems soft but they actually have character and traits.

The other enjoyable aspect that I had not considered is that the eggs are generally the same size but now and again you get something that looks more bantam like. I decided tonight to have the largest one laid to date with chips and was rewarded with my first double yolker.

As long as you have the time to look after them I would recommend them to anyone.

Also whilst i am on any other suggestions for getting calcium into their feed.  I have what I descibe as a shell type additive that I add to grain and layers mash but they dont seem to like it and I have started to notice imperfections in my egg shells.  Somebody suggested sharp sand?

Hi Fluff, sounds like you are really enjoying your chickens, their personalities are so interesting!
If the shells are nice and hard I wouldn't worry about adding anything  as it is quite usual to have an odd shaped or rough shell. If they start to regulary lay soft shell eggs then perhaps you may need to have a look at their diet.
