Plant sale at our site
« on: May 17, 2008, 19:20 »
Hi,.
We had a plant and Rhubarb sale at our lot today and put up signs outside the plot advertising it to the Public.
Our prices were low but we took £624
The public really liked the idea of buying plants and fresh Organic Rhubarb from us. We have all planted extra seed Spuds and intend to sell them over the fence in October, again Organic and Fresh.
99% Organic and 1% Slug Pellets.

Allotment holder since 27th May 2007.

yeah but you don't have to take any notice  8)   Take a magnifying glass to their rules and it probably isn't anything of the sort on them  8)

Not as well as it should be as it very cold.  When we have hot weather, people by bedding plants, plant them and come back for top ups but if it's cold they don't buy them at all

We're there again tomorrow so hopefully better weather tomorrow, and more punters expected at the food fair, we might shift some stuff

All profits from our sale went to improve the site for everyone.
The plants we grew we donated for free with all monies going to the society.
No individual made anything at all.

I myself donated 19 Cabbages, 4 Broccoli and 8 Sweet Pea plants.

£624 is excellent takings!  You should all feel proud of yourself  :D

I suggested having a spring sale (bedding plants, 'plug plants' etc) and harvest sale (harvested surpluses) at our site every year in order to raise funds for repairs etc that our parish council won't fund.  Didn't get much of a response at the time, but if we could even raise half that amount at each sale I think it would change their minds!

how much did you need to sell to raise that much?

I wish we could do something like that on our plot as it a fantastic way of raising funds for the site. Do you need to inform the council that you are doing this?
