I was given 3 of these plants and told they were either Cucumbers or Courgettes. I am not sure which one it is and need to get it in the soil if its Courgette, otherwise its a life in the greenhouse if its Cucumber.

My guess due to the size is courgette, cant see any tendrills coming off to climb with.

The size of the cotyledon look more courgette-like - larger, that is.

cheers,

Thanks people. Now if I plant them at the allotment tomorrow. How far apart should they be, I know they need some space.

a metre between is good - you may be able to go slightly less. Are you likely to get any frosts before June, because they'll die if you do.

I have raised beds and tend to put things a little closer. I will space them as close to a metre as I can though. I am not sure about the weather, one week snow, the other I get sunburnt. What a mess the weather is at the moment. If the weather says we are going to get frost, will they be ok if I cover them up?

I keep them indoors until after the last frost - they will die if the frost is even a bit keen. Fleece helps, but if there is any frost it may still get in.
