netting over brassicas

Hi all,
Could I have some advice please on wether it is a good idea to put netting over sprouts, cabbages etc.
When I planted them I put hoops of netting over to protect them from the birds and caterpillers.  Now the sprouts are touching the netting and there is the problem of how to weed under the netting.
It seemed like a good idea at the time now I'm not so sure.

You can't grow most brassica without netting.

It needs be big enough to accommodate growth without touching much and is lifted for cultivation.

I am using a fine mesh already.  I'm not so sure about the frame, the row is 13ft long.
I think I will just have to make bigger hoops and then lift the sides when I want to weed.
