This ones about sex!  

is this a boy or a girl? This is an odd one thrown in a blue copper marans chick -dad is a stunner! However, I have no idea whether a boy or a girl any guesses? The others are all cochins and the chick next to( him?) is a girl

On the bottom picture, I'd say that the one on the left was a pullet and that the other is just starting to get the  look of a male.

I hope that they are both pullets for you though.

I agree with you there - I am pretty certain that the one on the left bottom is a pullet starting to think the maran is a boy oh dear....not to keen on marans cockerels!

How can you tell which is which?

Experience really. Body and comb shape and in some breeds but not all, its the colour of the plumage as well. In Brown Leghorns for example the male and female are two completely different colours.

How can you tell which is which?

most of the time I haven't the faintest idea! for example my gorgeous cochin cockerel was named "Jenny" for at least 6 months!
