Re visiting this topic again I have posted some of my tomato plant pictures. please have a look and tell me what you think.

Plants were sown in January (late) and were initially grown indoors until 2 inches high, they were then transferred to a warmish minigreenhouse in a sheltered spot next to my house (south facing.)

About a month ago they were put into an unheated greenhouse for both night and day with a temperature variation of between 32c and 2c.

They were fed with diluted nettle tea about two weeks ago and normal tomato feed yesterday(to give them a boost.)

The compost was a little wetter than it should have been.

Over the past couple of weeks the underside of the leaves appears to have been "eaten away" leaving small 2-4mm patches on the top of the leaf. There are no signs of bugs, worms, spiders or any kind of visible pest on or around the plants.

I need some help from you good people here before I burn the lot and put three months of careful nuturing down down the drain.....

What is wrong with my plants???

Another victim. It looks like the mosiac virus (see previous page on details)

The leaves look bronzy/brass colour. Or it could just be frost damage.

Maybe leaf mould. Is it just the older bottom leaves affected? Take off and destroy, wash hands well.

If it is, it's a usually limited fungal disease, plants should do OK, keep them less humid and damp.

Thanks, have been bringing them in for the night and not watering them so much. Have sprayed them with diluted milk just as a precaution. Almost all the damage is on the older leaves with just the tips of new ones showing.

I have similar damage on a couple of geranium plants placed in the same are of the greenhouse, they were watered on the same day. I did water the leaves of all the plants except seedlings in trays. (no damage)

I found some photos on a North American site, they were identical in colouration and progression to my plants, turned out in the end it was a combination of leaf scald and burn. If they are right then the affected leaves will die and go crispy, new growth should continue.

To update, gobs you were right it was earlier cold damage coupled with severe overwatering. A small feed and more ventilation, less water has cured them. No new damage and what was there seems to be disappering, the bush tomatoes are now flowering!!

Thanks for the advice at least I'm not going to loose 3.5 months of hard work!!!

Oh that's nice, I don't know if it's just me but anyhow, nice to get an update, I like it.  As I learn from it.

No worries, was close to pulling them out and burning before it took hold of my peppers and aubergines. Thanks to your contribution I hesitated!!!
