New Raised beds....what to plant
« on: April 30, 2008, 14:23 »
So in my enthusiam I have purchased a link-a-bord 2 x 1 raised bed.

Not sure what to plant in it though!

I already have peas, broad beans, onions, beetroot and potatoes in my plot.

Any suggestions for a good planting?

Yeah that sounds good, although not a huge salad eater atm.

yeah but now a whole new salad vista opens up. Not just boring old plain stuff but lots of different leaf mixes which are fab. You'll soon be converted.  Flat leaf parsley then  :D

hmmmm winter veg is a good consideration. everything I have in so far is more summer / autumn fare.

Swedes or turnips maybe or a winter brassica?

brussels are a good bet - if you start them now you might miss Christmas but they'll be there for jan and feb.

leeks - good for winter.
swedes - I always do them and they survive the winter well.
winter cabbage
