What age do they get broody?

One of my younger girls has been hogging a nesting box and looks at me with beady eyes and makes a noise when I get near her to collect the eggs. She wouldnt leave her box even when I called them for food. She's not ill though. Do they have to be of a certain age to be broody?

My first one to go broody was 26 weeks old, which I thought was very young but it seems they just go broody on a whim

just have to keep lifting them out, to make sure they eat, drink and poo. 4 out of my 6 are currently broody.

I have pullets that have gone broody at between 6 and 8 months.
