? Exploded egg under broody ??

Went to lift our broody hen off the nest for her daily constitutional - it is day 12 of incubation. One of the eggs has obviously broken and it was stuck to her and had to be pulled off.
It is cracked round it, but still intact. Yellow leakage has dried on it and was what was sticking it to momma. It didnt smell offesnsive.
Question is - has this egg exploded or just been cracked by mother hen treading on it? We hadnt candled these eggs - just let her get on with it. I would have thought a rotten exploded egg would smell bad? There is some dried yellow stuff on a couple of the other eggs - will these be alright or should we do something about it??

Hi, this has happened to one of my chooks before. The ducks scrambled through her nest and broke a couple of eggies (I use maternity cages now

) anyway, I cleaned mummy and took away offending egg and all was well. Hope this helps.

That's good news as it definately doesnt smell offensive! Really want those icckle sebright eggs to hatch now after today!

I should think the inside goes off in time and festers and perhaps gets gassy and then poof UR UCKY nasty nasty smelly eggie, tho I could be totally wrong, that was a thought I thunk :oops: and we knows me eds made o Jelly :oops:
