My broad beans

My PSB:

My downpipe off my shed leading to my water butt, linked to a wheely bin butt by a siphon:
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Look how massive the broad beans are. We are about to try replanting some as the mice had off with the seeds last time!!

Those ones have been in since the autumn. On Sunday I was sitting drinking tea listening to the bees buzzing round the flowers.

when did you plant the PSB Noshed? variety?  Beans look great, only just planted mine out from the potting shed.

I sowed the PSB in a seed bed at the end of last summer (it said 'late' on the packet!) I planted it out about 1' apart in about September I think and it's been sitting there all winter with no protection. It's only just started sprouting so I'll plant an early variety this year.
Tastes lovely with a bit of balsamic vinegar on and apparently nice with chillies and anchovies.
The pigeons like it too and have an annoying habit of leaving their droppings on it when they're perching on the fence choosing the next bit for a nibble. I netted some but I've let the pigeons have some - as it's fairly closely planted they only nibble the outside bits.
