KEEPING SEEDLINGS WATERED WHILE AWAY FROM HOME

Does anyone have any tips on the best way to keep seedlings watered when you have no one around to water them for you?
I will be away for about a week and would love to hear your ideas :D

When we go onholiday, I put my houseplants in the bath on top of an old blanket that's been saturated and I come home to better plants than when I went.  The problem with this that I can think of with regard to seedllings is light but am  wondering whethersomeone can come up with a similar idea to use with seedlings.

You can get capillary matting which is the same thing - put the end in a trough of water and sit the seed trays on it. I got a tray from somewhere with the matting included, can't have been dear.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I was advised on this forum to give the capillary matting a whirl for my office greenhouse experiment

Here's the set up - I'm hoping everything will be alive in a week...

If the central heating is going to be on all week I would use deeper water reservoirs, if not it looks good to me.  I did something similar, though more Heath Robinson, many years ago using buckets of water and some strips of material as wicks.  One end in the bucket and the other in the soil.  It actually worked.   Was away for a month and my houseplants actually lived.
Cheese makes everything better.

Just from Homebase. Think it was about £8 for quite a big sheet. I've no doubt you could find it cheaper elsewhere though.

Capillary Matting

Don't know what size puravia's was though - it may be better value.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
