I'm going to replace my Stawberry plants this year as this will be their 3rd year.

I was wondering what everyones favourite varieties were and for what reason ?.

Cheers.. :D

It really depends on what you will be using the S'berries for.  I don't like S'berries but grow them for my daughter and jam making.
For jam making I use Cambridge Favourite - loads of fruit with a slight tang so higher pectin level.  For my daughter I grow Tenira - these are sweet and have a very nice flavour and texture.  Both varieties are available from http://www.kenmuir.co.uk/.

Sorry,I just want them for eating rather than Jam making.

Some of mine have become a bit bitter tasting so I really want a good sweet variety.

Thanks. :D

I've only grown two varieties - Elsanta and Pegasus

I found the Elsanta to be a bit disappointing with no real sweetness or flavour but they do alright in jam.

The Pegasus are better for eating with good flavour and sweetness.

I'll be preparing a dedicated strawberry bed this year on the allotment so I'm hoping for better results.

Interesting! I've just planted 3 strawberry plants called Honeyoye I bought from Wilko, put them in three small hangers. I had to soak them first they were very dry, don't know of they'll grow. Any comments?  :)

I prefer Cambridge Favourite although it can be less resistant to viruses than the more modern varieties.   Pegasus is also lovely.  Elsanta is tasteless and best left in the supermarkets.

I've ordered a variety called Irresistible....

It's meant to be very sweet but as I've not tried it before I couldn't tell you if it's any good!  :)
