New Chook Shed for the older Girls!

This is the shed that we used as the hospital for a while, Brian rebuilt it to house the new nest boxes I got last year with some of my pension payout.  I know they were a bit extravagant, but they will last a lifetime and being metal easier to keep mite free!  It is for the older hens we got last year.

The shed was going to be skipped, and all the other wood was scrounged from skips and the conservatory place, so the only cost was the nest boxes!

Ooops, picture missing!!

I'll try again!

That's better!

Yes, the shed was the security chap's hut when I worked as a temp sec then caterer on the new Tesco Extension in Boston.  My boss was the project manager of a famous building firm, you wouldn't believe what they skipped!   We got 4 tipper trucks of block paviours from the car park.  A load of floor tiles, although what we'll do with them I don't know, 1000 peg roof tiles, plaster board, wood, eletrical fittings.  New stuff as well as old!  Everything they have on site is in with the price they charge Tesco, so anything not used its cheaper to skip it than get it moved to the next site!!!!

I just wish I'd been on site from day one instead of 2 months into the build!!!!!

It really does look good and we're jealous !

It shows what you can get for nothing if you keep your eyes open and your ears to the ground.

They don't think they are so lucky Babe, they are still trying to get into the little old shed which we haven't moved out of the run yet!!!! lol, but they did manage to lay their eggs in the new house today, some even in the rollaway nest boxes!!!! lol

You'll have to rig up a system for electronic signalling.

As the egg hits the rollaway, it triggers a switch which sounds a buzzer in the house. I'm sure Brian would knock something up !  :)

LOL Foxy!!!!   Yes, those paviours are really handy, we may even use some to finish off the patio one day!!!!! lol

I use them to weigh down the weed control stuff if I use it for my potatoes, and they weigh down cardboard if I put some over the compost heaps, I built a 6x6 compost heap with some 2 years ago, and we gave some to the couple down the road to build a cold frame with!!!!

All free!!!!!!!!!!!    LOVE THAT WORD!!!!!!
