im sat here munching on an apple and i thought........... i wonder if i planted the pips would i get an apple tree in years to come so would i???
need all the help i can get and not just with my allotment

i did that with an apricot stone - and i now have a tree growing!

Yes you would get an apple tree, but there is no way of knowing it's characteristics.

there was an episode of the 'Alternative Kitchen Garden' podcast last autumn all about saving the pips from various fruits and how best to deal with them and get them going.

Worth hunting back through the list on iTunes to find it.

my little one planted a seed in a pot last year and it is about 2 inches high now, survived the winter and is growing leaves again. as Aunt Sally says though it could be anything as Apples dont grow true from seed, the only way is to use cuttings

And with apple seeds, you'll get a standard size, which could be 20-30 years before it produces - a surprise since you don't know what it crossed with.
