I agree DD crowndale is a peasent when it comes to beans but ask her how many pea plants she has and you wouldn't believe it!
I know less today than I did yesterday, and I knew nothing then!

Re the peas - would it beat my 160' worth of them & rising?

(4 x 32' rows, 1 x 22' & heritage peas still to go in).
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Personally, (just to balance the argument) I think that even one runner bean is too many!  And I mean the beans, not the plants!  Nasty yucky vile things!  Just my humble opinion!!

Peasant!

Can't be a peasant.  Beans are peasant food surely?

My mother always used to get carried away and plant linear yards of the things.  We hated her for it, even I who will eat beans by the pound every day.  We (or rather I, the biddable child) were picking kilos a day for a couple of months.  I'd stick with a couple of wigwams, and save the space for french beans and tall peas.

For my bunch, even one plant would be too many. Last year a neighbour who grew too many gave us some. "Goody" I thought, but some had gone a bit woody, and they put the boys off, well and truly. French beans, though, I think I need more space to grow enough ;)
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".
