Babe The other bad news is that if you do grow a carrot in that soil its most likly going to hit a stone and fork like mad so it might just turn out to be a "Terri" rather than a "Terence".
Meanwhile don't do anything "Radish " like pulling them all up.  

I have to say that when I stopped laughing about Babe in the garden in her jim jams with camera in the dark, I showed my OH the pictures he said "She's growing stones"

i have got a riddler, but didnt really know how deep i had to go, so didnt bother :?

and no one said i had to remove the stones....but it is my first year, if i get one solitary radish to grow big enough to eat, i will be a success.

im having fun with it all, so hey ho if it all goes pear shaped ive enjoyed the ride    

and as im still so young, ive got plenty of years to learn

Its time to give terrence some protection from carrot fly Babe.  Some fleece forming a square thats over 20" high, or some fleece carefully placed over him and held down with a few weights, being careful not to touch him.  Making a framework out of a bit of wire will work.  Then water the soil through the net.  Try not to remove it until he is fully grown.

Well said purplebean I agree.  I think that this thread is a delightful diversion from the real world and I have enjoyed reading it very much.  I am starting to care about poor old terrence and hope that he is going to make it to maturity.  But I am laughing fit to bust about Babe and her jimjams out taking the piccys.  Well done Babe keep it up.

This is as good as the glittery toilet seat picture! Made my day. Purely because our carrots last year were perectly formed, super crunchy, tasty............ and 2cm long!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. We should get a picture thread going of these things! Mind you - I ate that blasted carrot just to prove I could!
