Problem coming
« on: March 28, 2008, 08:52 »
Hi All, I have a problem coming I think. Yesterday after letting the chooks out into the garden, I noticed a couple of patches of white milky poo. After consulting my books I came up with three references to worms, coocidiosis, and gumboro? The chooks are not showing any other symptons, and were happily running around and scratching as excitedly as ever. Which do you think I should treat them for? or should I just do all three. Don't want to overdose them though.

If the hens are happy, then so should you be happy. Hens will tell you if they are not well, what you describe hardly amounts to a symptom. My advice would be not to worry and  to skip the chapters in the various books that deal with chicken ailments until you really need them. Chickens are inherantly healthy and as they used to say at the end of Crime Watch " Don't have nightmares"

I thought the wite part of bird poop is actually how they excrete their urine?? May be entirely wrong... but normally it is browning with a white part. I'm sure i read that somewhere!

If they are happy them let them be. You will know when one of them is ill.
Happiest in the countryside.
Breathe deeply, and let the butterflies fly in formation!
