Damage to broccoli seedlings
« on: March 15, 2008, 09:30 »
I have just planted 12 broccoli seedlings next to my broad bean crop. They are about 4 inches tall and all but one were covered with "mini cloches" of half coke bottles. Went out this morning to discover that something has chewed around the edges of leaves of the one left uncovered.

I will derris dust it tonight, anyone any ideas?? There are no slug trails!!!!

******Correction******

Found loads of small baby slugs under a scaffold board next to the plants and tiny traces of slime on the leaves.

Does anyone else get the same amount of pleasure and satisfaction squashing the slimey little *??

the sad reality is, you put all the effort into giving them the best chance, when ultimately they do not really have one, what with pests and disease.  :(
