Heirloom Tomatoes
« on: March 08, 2008, 08:21 »
I tried to grow this heirloom tomato but the wet then humid temp kind of rotted them so I picked one and took the seeds out, placed them on paper towels to dry out, can I just put them in seed raising mix next year and will they sprout?
Regards Faye

they may ,but i usually put a very ripe tomato cut up in a glass of water and let them rot .then when all the seeds have dropped out from the mush i dry them ,,, takes a couple days in a warm room. leave ona dry paper towel till completly fry then bag for next season ,then sow as normal

the kitchen paper trick works well. You can just peel them off the paper and sow em.

Figures Munty would do it the messy way, YUK!

I just do the paper towel route with seeds from ripe toms.
