i'd like to buy some for the old plot but which variety?i want a decent size,  flavour and someone who delivers? any ideas anyone?

Try the big seed and plant suppliers like T&M , suttons etc as for variety not sure but I wouldn't personally grow elsanta as that's the main stay of the supermarkets well known for it's travelling qualities. I've got sarian f1 but they came from seed @ T&M.

cheers richy,never really thought about seed. are they difficult and when do they start to fruit?

i used kings temptation seeds and they bore fruit in the first year easy to grow as well and very tasty

how many plants do you need to get a bowl full ?cus i had around 20 last year and was lucky to get a handfull a week  :(

It was a pretty hateful summer last year maybe you'll have more luck this year!!!  :D  I have a pick your own just up the road from me and its great and the people are lovely. So i might keep them going for a few more years until i grow my own! 8)

I have about twenty plants a bed, I harvest at least a punnet/or more every 2-3 days.  Some varieties are more productive than others, but most new ones should yield at least this much, this is without those lost to wildlife.

Maybe new plants? Will yield more from second season.

And tom feed.

Yep they did AND the runners did too  8)

But looks as if I might loose them all, just found the pots are riddled with vine weevil larvae  :evil:
