I am now the proud owner of 6 hens and a cockerel. I bought them on Saturday and let them out yesterday. 4 Marans, a black rock and a sussex. I was given a maran cockerel but he seems to be a bit of a bully and hes trying to mate with the black rock even though shes only about 14 weeks, is this a problem? Great to have them, I said after watching the chicken out campaign that I will never eat a battery egg nor an intensively reared chicken again.

It does feel great and I'll take some pictures today. I can't wait for my first eggs. My mate and I waited outside the run yesterday for 6 hours for them to come out of the coop. It was the closest thing to being an expectant father since my girls were born.
