What is this called?

And before anyone says  Yes it's a rotavator. What I need to know is what
make and model so I can get it repaired. I got it off a mate at the weekend. He's had it running but not for a while and he reckons it wont start.

It's got a Villiers single cylinder 2 stroke engine  and the number MT20/21 ids on the main casting

Any ideas and advice please.

More ideas needed please guys. Me mechanic has had a look at the machine and it's getting fuel thru OK and there's compression on swinging it over. However, there's no spark and I've discovered there's some ducting missing from over a fan.  Now we've had the pulley where you wind the cord to start off and the electrical gubbins in there looks a bit rusty. Is it a magneto ignition as there seems to a coil for storing the charge and magnets to generate the initial current. Plug looks  a bit dirty but gap is Ok and it's not damaged.

Thanks for any help

clean up the points and see if you can get a spark. if you do, throw them away and fit a fivers worth of electronic ignition off of ebay. it's worth it in the end, and you will never have to fester around adjusting them again.
have you tried removing the plug cap and seeing if you get a spark without it? often the older type of plug cap gives up after a few years.
if you can't see any obvious reason why the coil won't generate a spark, you may need to get the coil looked at.

Thanks Graham

I'll get the machine up home as soon as the snow clears and see what I can do . Don't really want to spend a lot it's not my machine trying to sort it out for a mate.
