Can anyone tell me if I have a soil deficiency or if I’ve neglected my brassicas in some way?  I am late lifting the initial lower net after planting, so they were all straining against it a bit (in case that has impacted them) but I noticed that some stems look as though they have grown over sideways & then grown up again.  Also - as I reached in amongst them to weed in between, leaves were brittle & snapping really easily.  Apart from that they look healthy & are a good size.  Should I have planted them deeper?  Do they need an Epsom spray perhaps?

Yes the leaf stems are very brittle, I end up doing that too. I wouldn't worry, as long as the growing tip at the top is ok they'll be fine.

Also my sprouting broccoli will have bendy stems, they look odd but it doesn't matter

Oh thank you for reassuring me - they are a mixture of purple sprouting, brussels & red cabbage & they all looked a lot happier with more space to stretch yesterday 🥰 .  I’ve also seen a few posts here about planting seedlings deeper - up to their 1st set of leaves - so will bear that in mind for future plantings.  Thanks again.
