looking back at veg gardening
« on: February 16, 2023, 14:08 »
looking back at veg  gardeners years ago lets take  growing brassicas crops well they never had insect nets or chemical sprays yet they used to produce cabbage cauliflowers and brussels sprouts and others it was the done thing in our village when I was growing up for my Dad  to go to someone who grew brassicas plants I'm talking pulling plants a score of cabbage brussels cauliflower usually wrapped in newspaper then they planted them out and they grew and produced crops

today I'm using  insect netting sprays and we  grow my brassicas plants in plugs prior to planting if I didn't use insect netting or sprayed  I would end up with no brassicas crop so how did the old gardeners manage without these things do we have more pest attacking our plants these days?
